Legal Trauma Institute › Refer a client

For defense attorneys

Your client's facts are fine.
Your client is not.

Every defense attorney has had the client who cannot sleep, cannot stop calling, cannot stop explaining, and will be a disaster at deposition for reasons that have nothing to do with the case. This is where you send them.

What you get

  • A better witness. Calm, slow, brief. We train the physiology of testimony (breath, pause, the short answer, the anger trigger) in the weeks before a deposition or trial, and we never touch substance. Your preparation does the rest.
  • A manageable client. Clients in a threat response call too often, want to explain, and make impulsive settlement decisions. A client who has learned to open your emails from the belly instead of the throat is a different client.
  • Nothing discoverable. No case facts, no recording, no notes, no clinical record. The work is education and coaching, not therapy, and it sits entirely outside the case.
  • Coordination on your terms. We will confirm receipt of a referral to you, align session timing with your deposition and trial calendar, and otherwise stay out of your way. We do not report content, ever.

Who to refer

  • Physicians and surgeons in malpractice claims, board complaints and peer review
  • Founders, executives and directors in co-founder, investor, employment, IP and regulatory matters
  • Attorneys in legal malpractice claims and disciplinary matters
  • Any professional client whose sleep, judgment or composure has become a problem for the defense

What it costs the client

A free 20-minute call to establish fit. Then the one-day Executive Retreat ($1,500), monthly circles ($400), or private deposition-timed sessions by package. Many clients' carriers or employers sponsor the work; we invoice the sponsor directly if asked. There is no referral fee in either direction, and we do not pay for referrals.

Questions

Frequently asked

Is this discoverable?

We never discuss case facts, record sessions or keep notes, and the work is education and coaching rather than treatment, so there is no record to discover. We will not be a witness to anything about the case.

Will you coach my client's testimony?

No. Substance is yours. We train the state the client is in while your preparation works: settled body, steady voice, short answers, a trained pause, and composure at the trigger question.

Do you coordinate with me?

To the extent you want. We confirm referrals, align timing to your calendar, and otherwise leave the case alone. We never report content and never contact opposing parties, courts or carriers.

How quickly can you see someone?

Usually within a week. If a deposition is in the next four weeks, say so on the form and we prioritize it.

If you have a client who will lose their deposition to their nerves, send them this week. The earlier the referral, the better the witness.

Education and coaching, not psychotherapy or legal advice. Confidential. Nothing you say is recorded, and no case facts are discussed.
